Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (Dallas, USA)
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is the World’s Fourth Busiest
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is a major US hub and is enormous by anyone’s standards. Imagine; 900 flights each day and to over 200 destinations. DFW Airport is the second largest in the US, after Denver, and from here you can fly virtually anywhere worldwide. The airport sits at the apex of a geographic triangle; the other two points being the cities of Fort Worth and Dallas. Both are just in excess of 20 miles away and offer great attractions for airport travellers. Make no mistake though; DFW Airport is itself, an exciting element of any journey.
DFW Airport is Really, Really Big; But Not as Big as the Big D
If you’re wondering how to fill pre or post flight time, a visit to the city of Dallas, the Big D, is highly recommended. Sophistication is the name of the game here where the main participants include high end shops and restaurants. There are also dazzling choices of hotels that are bound to impress. It’s a huge city but don’t worry; it’s easy to get around via the efficient railway system.
For a breath of fresh air try one of the sailing charters on Grapevine Lake which, assuming that you are staying near DFW Airport, is only about three miles from your hotel. Also about three miles away, you can satisfy any fascination with flight activity with the telescopes and plane spotting facilities at Founder’s Plaza Observation Area.
DFW Airport is Terminally Impressive
There are five terminals at DFW and, to give you an idea of the size of everything here, Terminal A has 26 desks and is monopolised by American Airways. The prospect of finding where you need to be can be stressful, but designated rest zones with lounge chairs and workstation outlets help you switch off all concerns and worries. Airport facilities will probably remind you of those found in a top end hotel and include hair salons, spa, yoga, manicure, and massage services. There is a pet hotel; also a chapel, and you can freshen up using the shower facility. Wi-Fi is free and there are mouthwatering choices of food and drinks from a whole range of retail outlets.
You probably won’t want to leave DFW, but getting here is easy and can take less than 25 minutes by taxi from Dallas. Or, the 408 bus goes to and from the city centre, as does the DART Orange Line rail service.
Hotel Locations Near DFW Airport Range From Lakeside to City Centre
Being only a few hundred yards away, Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport is just one hotel that is so close, it is virtually part of the DFW Airport complex. If you prefer to be a bit further away, but still near the airport, it’s less than three miles to Hilton Garden Inn DFW North Grapevine. City life is best enjoyed, some 20 miles away at hotels such as the Sheraton Dallas. Dallas Marriott City Center, in the Arts District, is another popular hotel choice and it is only eight miles to the Lake Carolyn waterfront accommodation at the Dallas Marriott Las Colinas.
