This church dates from the 12th century although only a part of the tower and the chancel now remain from that date. The early church house dating from 1250 is now The Cross Keys public house and we know that around 1225 a chapel dedicated to St Katherine was built by Maud de Lovetot in memory of her husband and son that were killed in the crusades. Over the centuries the church has been changed many times, most recently during the Victorian era. The church is usually kept open during daylight hours and visitors are welcome. Admission is free.
