Positive Reviews
positive:
Truly unique proposition
St Francis is a unique proposition, with its Santa Fe mission architecture, one-off pieces of hand-carved furniture and stunning lobby (especially at night), there is nothing quite like it. Those looking for an original break away steeped in history might just have found their perfect spot.
positive:
Historic centre location
The hotel enjoys an enviable location, close to everything- shops, restaurants and all the local attractions and museums, and yet tucked away. It is ideally situated for those looking to explore the downtown area.
positive:
Perfect relaxation spots
There are numerous spots to relax in, in the hotel grounds. In fine weather, guests can enjoy a quiet breakfast on the patio or, in Winter, cozied up in the bar around the roaring fireplace.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Size matters
While size is not everything, rooms at St Francis hotel are on the small side. Previous guests have suggested that, while the dimensions are understandable given the property's age, the design is impractical. Lighting is dim in most rooms, and bathrooms are poorly thought-out- some sinks are in bedrooms and toilets in some are squashed against walls.
negative:
Not the best night's sleep
Some guests have stated that they haven't enjoyed the best night's sleep while staying at St Francis. Traffic noise from morning trash collection, hot rooms in Summer and poorly covered windows have all been to blame.
negative:
Additional parking fees
Guests can usually find parking close to the hotel- at the public lot opposite. Unfortunately, however, it isn't cheap and, during busy periods, space comes at a premium.
