Positive Reviews
positive:
Peace and quiet.
It's really just an old house and a sort of annex to the sister hotel which is about 5 minutes' walk away. Consequently, there's no noise associated with hotel activity, plus the area itself is quiet. A good night's sleep is virtually assured.
positive:
Impressive rooms.
Built in an age of space and splendor; rooms are large, bright and airy. Very relaxing and somewhat outside the norm of hotels these days, there is a real home from home atmosphere here.
positive:
Friendly staff.
They are all very pleasant and 'laid back', in keeping with the rest of the place. Rooms, it has to be said, are outstandingly clean and there is a feeling of security and safety that multi-billion dollar hotel chains can only dream of. The 'buzz' is only a short walk away, on streets such as St. Charles Street.

Queen of mystery!
Check in is complicated! You book in at the sister hotel, The Pyrtania, which is a 5-minute walk away. Breakfast, though (*swerve this + try La Quinta for something much more substantial) is not where you are staying .. not at the hotel where you checked in ... but at a 3rd hotel across the street!
negative:
Garden needs landscaping.
It's not really in the Garden District proper. There's a lot of dilapidated property in the area and much of the remainder is residential, with noisy locals playing music until the early hours. If this is the so called Garden District, please pass the weed killer.
negative:
Free parking fee.
They'll ask you if you want a parking permit for the fenced off area opposite. The inference is that this is free but, of course, they'll be clobbering you big time via your final account.
