Positive Reviews
positive:
Best for compus visits
This hotel provides the best convenience for those who are taking tours of the campus, those visiting students on campus, or for other activities like games. The visitor's center is just a short walk away and the hotel-provided shuttle will drop you off at key locations around Virginia Tech.
positive:
Not just a conference center
Don't just expect this to be a conference center that caters to the business professional. The rooms are as nice as those you would find at a hotel of this caliber. The spacious bathrooms have tubs and the rooms are both nicely decorated and furnished.
positive:
For business or pleasure
The business traveler has large work space in the room with multiple outlets and a refrigerator. Those who are in the area for pleasure will enjoy the golf course next door with some rooms having views of the greens.
Negative Reviews
negative:
A little pricey
The room rates are a bit pricey, especially when booking last minute or when there is a big event on campus. Since the hotel does not provide a complimentary breakfast, guests might choose the hotel's restaurant which has an expensive breakfast buffet, and other high prices for regular menu items.
negative:
A lack of hotel amenities
The hotel has a lack of amenities that many others of this price and quality consider to be standard. There is no pool or spa and no flat screen TVs. The TV provides only basic cable and the WiFi is spotty, weak, or absent altogether.
negative:
Small glitches in service
There are a few service-oriented details that can add up to large annoyances. The cleaning crew isn't meticulous about every room or every cleaning. If there is a line at reception, the check-in and -out process is very slow. Also, the air conditioning units need to be repaired or replaced, as they are very loud and don't adequately cool the rooms.
