Positive Reviews
positive:
Caring staff.
The hotel is extremely popular with conferences, meetings, social gatherings and weddings; so there are always groups of people streaming in and out. Staff, though, remain unfazed by the pressure and always have the time to sort out queries from individual, non-group, guests.
positive:
Good facilities.
Rooms are fine and well maintained. Facilities include a fridge, but no microwave. There is one though, in the first floor level vending area. Beds are super comfy and better than home! In the public areas, the pool is clean and inviting and the fitness center is equally well maintained. Everything, in fact, seems to be of real quality.
positive:
Memorable dining experiences.
Hotel living just got much better here! The food is extraordinarily good, starting with breakfast and brunch and following through to lunch and dinner choices in the restaurants. Catering staff, as in all areas of the hotel, are superb.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Lunching after the locust eaters!
Wander in for a late lunch and shell shocked staff are trying to recover from the earlier onslaught. Any residue veg has gone cold, hot meats, if any remain, are now warm (*can't be good!) and desserts have deserted completely. Sympathy with the staff of course, but things need to be better than this.
negative:
An appalling night's sleep.
Beds are uncomfortable and need replacing. Doesn't matter if everything else is perfect; if you don't sleep, you won't return!
negative:
Not 'unfounded' criticism of The Founders.
Everything seems to be in separate outbuildings with no lobby focal point and resulting in an 'institutionalised' atmosphere. Furnishings are sparse and not antique - just old and 'naff'. Walls are thin, so there's no sound insulation as such.
