Everyone seems to remember your name and greet you with a smile every time. The check-in clerks offer helpful tips and recommendations, and the cheerful breakfast room will help get your day off to a good start.

Reviewers were overwhelming impressed with the quality of accommodation and facilities here. Many were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the rooms, including the linens, as well as the bathrooms. If you're traveling with your dog, he can enjoy the onsite dog park. The free breakfast is also excellent, including the fantastic omelets.

A short walkway from the pool area leads across the sand dunes to the white, sandy beach and the calm waters of Chesapeake Bay. The beach is clean, deserted and just a few steps away - perfect, in other words.

The hotel is located in Oceanview, which is outside the center of Norfolk, so you need to drive to reach most restaurants, shops and local attractions. The neighborhood is undergoing a revival after going downhill for many years, but some guests advise it might be best not to walk around alone after dark.

Some reviewers reported that if they stayed in their rooms until late morning, they didn't get housekeeping on that day as the cleaners don't seem to come back later to check whether guests have gone out.
