Positive Reviews
positive:
A quiet yet convenient spot..
Guest often comment that the hotel's location feels pleasantly "quiet" and "away from it all" but is actually convenient to I-5 and Hwy 56, making travel south to San Diego or north to Legoland simple and straightforward. Most of the attractions in San Diego are a 20-minute drive in light traffic. The beach at Torrey Pines, one the area's nicest, is very close by. An outdoor shopping area and movie theater are down the road.
positive:
A warm welcome and good value..
The reception staff frequently receive rave reviews for their professional customer service and welcoming manner. Guests often go on to comment that the hotel is a "budget friendly" option for exploring San Diego, particularly for young families. Travelers often list the "free" amenities, which include parking, Wi-Fi, and breakfast.
positive:
Clean, comfortable rooms, with space for Fido..
Guests generally describe the rooms as very clean, well maintained, and spacious, with comfortable beds. The in-room microwaves and mini fridges are very valuable conveniences for families. Four-legged guests in town to visit the Dog Beach at Del Mar feel right at home as well.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Tight parking spots..
Guests who arrive late at night report difficulty finding a parking space, noting the the spaces outdoors and in the parking garage are narrow by modern, SUV standards.
negative:
Small, uninviting pool..
Several guests note that the pool area is very small and nearly surrounded by the parking lot, which some found awkward. Thankfully, there are many nice beaches nearby for swimmers.
negative:
Lukewarm reviews for breakfast..
Many guests rate the breakfast about "average" for the chain, and some are disappointed in the selection, quality, or presentation. Some would like to see a wider variety of healthy options, and more than a few are concerned the eggs "aren't real".
