Positive Reviews
positive:
Outstanding breakfast.
The Hampton Inn Helen really outdid themselves with a complimentary breakfast full of delicious choices. In addition to bagels, cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit, eggs and yogurt will get you started for the day. Sunday might be the best time to partake in breakfast, with fresh-baked buttermilk biscuits and old-fashioned gravy with sausage.
positive:
Spacious rooms.
Standard guest rooms were found to be large and inviting, including bathrooms with plenty of space. Guests wanting to really spread out will be pleasantly surprised by extra-large suites complete with jacuzzi bathtubs, fireplaces, and balconies overlooking the river.
positive:
Great location.
Guests loved that this hotel was secluded and peaceful, yet within walking distance of downtown Helen. Top tourist holidays like Oktoberfest can get very boisterous in Helen, and guests liked being slightly removed from the action. If you can tear yourself away from the fresh cookies in the lobby, you can also go for a stroll by the river, or play with the kids in the grassy area beside the hotel.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Inconsistent housekeeping.
While most guests found rooms to be clean and comfortable, some had concerns about the quality of housekeeping at the Hampton Inn Helen. Rooms that were overlooked for cleaning happened from time to time at this hotel, but management was fast to respond to dissatisfied customers.
negative:
Thin walls.
Noise from other guests was apparent at this hotel, including hallway noise and occasional sounds from other rooms such as footsteps or talking. Another issue for a small minority of guests was noise from the parking lot, and a disruptive air filter on the hotel roof, which may affect guests in rooms close by.
negative:
Not smoke-free.
Some guests were sensitive to a cigarette smoke smell that permeated parts of the property. If you have allergies, or would rather steer clear of smoke, ask for a room located far away from smoking rooms.
