Hotel Ambert (Berlin, Germany)

Guests could have unpacked and stayed awhile, based on the clean and comfortable rooms that were generous in size. Large windows and a newer, modern bathroom added to the pleasant atmosphere.

This is definitely not a cookie cutter hotel, as evidenced by the cute and vibrant rooftop terrace and the charming decor. Guests felt more like they were in a large, cosy home than a hotel with strangers. A bonus was that the homey vibe encouraged a friendly atmosphere amongst guests.

The morning meal served here was a hit with the majority of guests. A great selection of high quality items like yoghurt and cheese were the perfect way to start the day- just make sure that you dine early, as guests said that this popular spread disappears fast.

Several guests had a lingering bad taste in their mouths after encountering less than cordial front desk personnel. Rude service was a disappointment for guests who thought that this detracted greatly from their visit.

While it seems that different staff spoke different languages, English was often not one of them. Miscommunication was a problem for guests who only spoke English, so you might want to practise some German before your stay.

Air-conditioning would have been a nice addition, according to guests who sweated through some hot summer nights. There were also problems reported with heating, and guests were left uncomfortable due to temperatures out of their control.
