Windward Passage Hotel (Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands)

The hotel is located in a central downtown location, in the waterfront district. Guests say it’s a very walkable area, with plenty of duty free shops, great restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment within a five-minute walk. In addition, the hotel is also convenient to the ferry terminal. For other must-visit spots, including Magen’s Bay, the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service.

The food at the onsite restaurant is worth a taste. Guests enjoyed the menu selection and the tasty local dishes. In addition, the bartenders are said to be extra friendly and make great drinks.

Guests really liked the hotel’s pool area and the harbor views from the property and most of the rooms.

This is an older property and it shows. Guests say the rooms and the common areas are overdue for an update. The décor is dated, and many in-room fixtures are in need of maintenance and repair. The carpet is evidently aged and worn, and the mattresses are due for a replacement. In addition, guests also thought the restaurant could use a face lift as well, as the interior is too dark and takes away from the tropical atmosphere.

The hotel could use an improvement in customer service and organization. Guests often report booking and billing errors. Despite arrive after check-in time, guests were repeatedly told to wait before getting their room keys. Also, despite asking and receiving approval for a late check-out, guests were surprised to find the front desk often evidently does not keep record of this.

Some of the rooms are noisy, especially those located near the hotel bar.
