Positive Reviews
positive:
Budget-friendly hotel
The Royal Hotel Perth holds obvious appeal for guests who are looking for an alternative to expensive Perth hotels. Room rates here are found to be reasonable and competitive for the area. The hotel does have some shortcomings but the cost is not one of them.
positive:
Excellent location
Previous guests have found the location of this hotel convenient, often mentioning how they were able to explore much of the city on foot or by hopping on one of the free CAT buses. There are numerous shops and dining options to choose from in the area around the hotel.
positive:
Friendly and helpful staff
Although the staff is only available Monday to Friday during the day, guests do mention that they found the service was friendly and helpful. Outside of the front desk times at the Royal, staff is available at the Wentworth Plaza (24-hours).
Negative Reviews
negative:
Basic rooms
While the rooms at this hotel are often described as clean and comfortable, they are also found to be extremely basic. Amenities are sparse and you really will be limited to a bed, a TV and a phone (and tea/coffee). Plus, not all rooms have an en-suite.
negative:
No on-site amenities
One of the biggest issues with this hotel is the lack of facilities. Beyond front desk services during the day, you will need to go to the sister hotel. It's only a short walk but you will even have to leave your hotel to access something as basic as Wi-Fi.
negative:
Noisy surroundings
Given the location of this hotel in the CBD, the fact that the surrounding streets are noisy (especially on Friday and Saturday evenings) shouldn't be too surprising. Also, guests mention that there is extensive building work going on in the area. This is due to be completed in 2016.
