The Best Western Kelly Inn is very much a family orientated hotel, appealing to the younger element with its leisure facilities, including the swimming pool and water park, and allowing pets to stay. The pool is clean and warm, and found to be great fun, including the water slide. It is easy to supervise children in the pool area.
The reception staff are friendly and helpful, and the same goes for other members of the team. Guests who needed a booking at short notice were pleased to be given a room at a very good price. The location of the hotel was also found to be very convenient.
The large suites, equipped with whirlpools were found to be fantastic, the rooms in general and the grounds are clean. Room rates were felt to be reasonable, and the restaurant and its offering are excellent.
Several guests complained that the hot tub was not available and seems to have been out of commission for some time. Some rooms appear to be in need of a comprehensive update, having carpets and paintwork in poor condition. Rooms were also found to be dirty, stained bed linen was not appealing, and there was water damage and non functional air conditioning.
The complimentary breakfast did not impress, being not hot enough, made with powdered egg, and "rubbery" sausages. A guest was disappointed to find that breakfast had ended ten minutes early, and was refused point blank replenishment of the empty coffee stations, this was not the only guest to be unable to get coffee.
There were failures in the booking system, with missing bookings, and wrong rooms being allocated. Overall the impression is that the hotel suffers from a need for comprehensive refurbishment, and an upgrade of the catering service.
