Radisson Hotel Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic)

The front desk staff know how to make their guests feel welcome at this hotel. They provide a drink on arrival and even have cold towels to help you freshen up after your long journey. This makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

This hotel is in the commercial and business district, so it’s great for those in town for business or pleasure. There are many shops and malls nearby, and you’ll find many dining options all within easy walking distance.

There are two restaurants on-site although both are open at different times of the day. You can order local or international dishes and everything is delicious with generous helpings. The bakery is a nice touch with some great coffee and snacks.

When you stay here, you notice that there is a distinct mildew smell in many parts of the hotel. Perhaps it’s the local climate but there seems to be mould everywhere which is unsightly and a health concern for guests.

The air con units aren’t the best and seem to work on a movement sensor. This means that during the night when you are not moving the air con turns off. You’ll end up sweating through the night if you can’t figure out how to keep the air con on.

If you have any work that requires an internet connection don’t bank on having Wi-Fi in your room. The service is intermittent at best, and you’ll find that even when it’s working, it’s incredibly slow.
