Most guests enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, particularly the Texas shaped Belgian waffles. Also noted fairly regularly is the hotel's proximity to several decent restaurants. Whether you fancy pizza, steak, or more waffles, you'll find there are ample dining choices near the hotel.

Negative Reviews
negative:
Issues with rooms
It seems that either the standard of the rooms or people's expectations of them differ wildly. While a fair number of guests were happy enough with the accommodation, others were far less impressed, describing problems such as dated decor, old furniture, and stains on the furnishings.
negative:
Pools may disappoint
Several guests not only arrived at the hotel to find that the outdoor pool was closed, it was also quite dirty and had debris floating in it. Adding insult to injury in some cases was the fact that the indoor pool was also closed. So much for cooling off from the Texas heat.
negative:
Housekeeping and maintenance concerns
A common theme among reviews of the Travelodge Amarillo West is how run down and dirty the hotel seems to be. Numerous guests complain that housekeeping needs to do better. Plus, there appear to be serious maintenance concerns such as loose fitting door locks.
