Affordable, 'lone star' quirkiness!
There are reasons why the hotel is 'affordable', but let's not dwell on those. There's a friendly welcome from the reception staff and it quickly becomes apparent that this hotel has a definite cowboy theme... throughout! Great for parties .. not so good for that quiet, romantic getaway.

Stockyards: a great location.
Once you've arrived and established yourself, you've got all the attractions of the Stockyards on the doorstep.

Give a little - take a little.
When it comes to cost effective accommodation, they've nailed it here. There's nothing locally to compete with their prices. Pay much more and stay somewhere else, or stay here (*it is clean), put up with the minor faults + save mega bucks!

Not even one star for 'parking'
The facilities for car parking have disappeared as quickly as ... the hotel's star rating! It's just street parking, plus a pay option which is, actually, very reasonably priced. Read the signs for street parking + you'll be OK. Roll up expecting a free car park + you'll be, understandably, somewhat disappointed. Other missing items include soap and the promised breakfast!
negative:
Staff: probably more at 'home on the range'.
Reception staff must have spent too much time in the company of rough 'n ready cowboys, because they don't seem able to address reasonable queries from hotel guests, without becoming excessively rude.

Welcome Now ... get out
Place a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door and that attracts cleaning staff like locusts. They return every few minutes, trying to gain entry and just will not go away. No point in complaining to management; they'll just get angry and obnoxious.
