Positive Reviews
positive:
Staff are very lovely and definitely a plus.
The staff are definitely on the list of pluses for staying at this inn. They're helpful, cordial, and pleasant to deal with, and do what they can to make your stay a better one. The dining staff are also just as nice, and make it a brighter experience by their lovely personalities.
positive:
Great coastal location and base for sightseeing.
The inn works quite well as a base for some holiday fun at the beach, as well as seeing local sights. You're near famous lighthouses, historical buildings and cemeteries, plenty of shopping, pubs and nightlife spots, golf courses, and museums and galleries. It's a convenient location for exploring the area on a budget.

Negative Reviews
negative:
Cramped bathroom and not much storage space.
Rooms are not very spacious, with layouts that feel cramped, and little possibilities for hanging clothes and laying out your belongings. The bathrooms are also uncomfortable, with no space to set out toiletries and thus difficult to use when getting ready to go out.
negative:
Rooms are outdated and far from what's expected.
Expectations are greatly lowered, when checking in to the rooms at Roker Lodge. The furnishings and fixtures are worn out, the décor is tiring, and the whole ambience is far from great because of the old and uncared for set-ups.
negative:
Extremely dirty and uncomfortable to stay in.
Cleanliness and upkeep are common complaints here. The rooms have such clear signs of not being cleaned properly that guests are reluctant to set out luggage and settle in. Stains, dust, grime, debris, odours, peeling paint, broken fixtures, and assorted instances of inconsistent or absent housekeeping ruin plans and excitement to stay here.
