Hotel Montana (El Paso, USA)

Staying here doesn’t break the bank. The fact that the journey to El Paso Airport is less than four miles is another major plus point.

The room is nice enough but noticeably frill-free. That’s OK though, particularly when you take into account the more than reasonable price. The shower is very good. Impressive room facilities also include TV with cable channels and HBO, telephone, desk and air-conditioning. Rooms feature Queen bed(s) and some include a very useful microwave.

The motel has a very appealing hillside location and is in close proximity to restaurant and other attractions.

It’s good that the rooms are cleaned. It doesn’t always happen, particularly when staying at accommodation where prices are as low as they are here. It is though deeply concerning that cleaners use their pass key to enter the room 'willy nilly' and without even knocking. Complain to the front desk and you come up against a language problem. The solution is to either put up with it or move to another hotel. Motel 6 looks OK.

Furniture is old and doesn’t match up. The impression is that it has been acquired from a junk shop. Bed linen and towels are of similar dubious quality. Items such as the vital air conditioning are broken and remain un-repaired … but, again, the price is right!

The police are regular visitors here. Presumably raiding guests’ rooms in respect of drugs, theft etc. Whatever the reason, this situation does little to restore the motel’s credibility with bona fide guests.
