Hotel Kensington (London, United Kingdom)

The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The concierge in particular is very friendly and attentive to the needs of guests. Overall the staff at the hotel try to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

The location of the hotel is excellent. South Kensington is quieter than some of the busier parts of London yet is still relatively central. The tube station is nearby and can be reached in under ten minutes. The hotel is also close to Hyde Park and to Buckingham Palace as well as to lots of nice restaurants.

The décor at the hotel is very beautiful and quite impressive. The lobby and reception area are very attractive and cosy and feature fireplaces and antique furniture. The bar and other common areas are also very well decorated and overall the hotel has a great look to it and a nice atmosphere.

The smaller rooms tend to be much smaller than what you would expect from a five star hotel. Some of the smaller rooms also have very unattractive views overlooking fire-escapes or air-conditioning units. The rooms are however very comfortable and tastefully decorated, just somewhat cramped given the price.

As the Kensington is located inside of an old renovated building there are some issues with noise and sounds do travel. Hearing noises from other rooms especially other guests in the corridors and on the stairs is not uncommon. The lower level rooms also have some noise issues in the morning from traffic.

The breakfast service in the mornings is somewhat slow, and breakfast is not included in the room price. The room service can also be a bit slow, and often items are missing from what was originally ordered.
