Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location near the I-44
While the hotel is a bit north of Springfield itself, guests nevertheless really seemed to like the location. It is right but an exit on the I-44, so guests could easily find it when first arriving and quickly access the highway again when they were ready to move on.
positive:
Welcoming to pets
A couple of guests traveling with their pets mentioned being made to feel especially welcome. The La Quinta Group is well known for its pet-friendly policies, and guests were happy to report that this hotel was no exception.
positive:
Decent breakfast
While no guest really raved about it, several said that the breakfast was at least solid, and they were grateful to have it available at the hotel and included in their room-rate. That way they didn't have the hassle of finding a restaurant first thing in the morning.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Décor looking very tired
It seems that, as of May 2016, the hotel was undergoing a significant renovation. While guests reckon the hotel will look pretty good when complete, the fact is that most of the rooms had not been renovated at the time of the reviews, so guests had to stay in rooms they described as looking very, very tired indeed.
negative:
Problems with the renovations
Guests believe that the current (May 2016) renovations will do wonders for the hotel once complete, but in the meantime they were causing some problems. These ranged from construction noise starting too early for some to a bit of dust and dirt related to the project.
negative:
Some rooms very smelly
An extraordinary number of guests were not simply unhappy with the cleanliness of their room, but insisted that it had a very foul smell that they couldn't quite identify. But whatever it was, they certainly didn't like it.
