Dukes Folly Hotel (Southport, United Kingdom)

The entire hotel from top to bottom is spick and span. You won’t find a speck of dust or a thing out of place. The housekeeping staff really know their game and such cleanliness makes for a lovely stay.

The hotel is right in the heart of Southport so you can be anywhere within minutes. The train station, shops, restaurants, and local bars are all right on your doorstep. You really couldn’t ask for a better location in the area.

You get the feeling that the staff at this hotel really enjoy their job as they are more than willing to help you out no matter how small your request. Whether it’s tips on the area or the best place to eat, they are very helpful indeed.

Although the hotel boasts a rich heritage, the rooms could really do with being updated. They’re not terrible but certainly not the luxury rooms you are expecting considering the boutique status of the hotel.

It’s a bit strange that guests have had complaints about the TV reception which is usually taken for granted at any hotel. The signal is a bit hit and miss so don’t expect to be able to catch the soaps if that’s your thing.

The breakfast looks great in the website photos but doesn’t live up to expectations in reality. Everything is adequate, but you want more than that for the most important meal of the day. However, the conservatory setting is very relaxing.
