Positive Reviews
positive:
Terrific staff.
Most guests give the front desk staff rave reviews for their personable and professional customer service, noting that they happily "go above and beyond" to make their stay comfortable. Several parents gratefully noted that the reception staff kindly engaged with their children, while guests staying on their birthdays were surprised by complimentary upgrades or small gifts.
positive:
Lovely leisure facilities...
Guests who like to exercise while travelling appreciate the fitness centre on site, which offers reasonably new models of all the basic equipment, as well as a well maintained outdoor pool and children's splash pool. Guests also rave about the spa, in particular the massages.
positive:
Great bed and breakfast...
The rooms are often described as "spotless", quiet, nicely furnished, and spacious. Many guests enjoy the comfortable beds, and the ample breakfast buffet, complete with eggs cooked-to-order and very fresh pastries.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Don't get a ticket...
Guests warn that it is necessary to enter your license plate number into the Parking Eye system and pay the nominal fee, or risk receiving a much pricier parking ticket later. Other guests were unpleasantly surprised by the gratuity automatically added to their bill in the restaurant, or were disappointed in the food.
negative:
Free Wi-Fi for members only.
Many guests are irritated to find that Wi-Fi is not included in the nightly rate for standard rooms, and they find the additional fee to be unreasonable. Wi-Fi is free for members of the hotel's loyalty program; however, several guests were either unaware of this option, or disappointed in it.
negative:
A long walk and no lift...
Easy to access by car, the Marriott Waltham Abbey is an older building with a few two-storey wings, and depending on which room you are assigned, you may be in for a walk. The hotel does not have a lift.
