Positive Reviews
positive:
Stunning ocean views.
From its oceanfront position, this hotel offers gorgeous views. You can drink it all in from the terrace over breakfast or evening aperitifs, but guests recommend paying that little bit extra for an ocean-facing room, where you can enjoy the views from the privacy of your own balcony.
positive:
Range of leisure facilities.
What would make your Maine vacation unforgettable? Perhaps you'd like a sunrise session of yoga on the beach, a whale watching cruise, or just a relaxing afternoon lounging by the pool. Whatever it is, you can do it at Atlantic Oceanside and Event Center - it's the leisure facilities which make this place special.
positive:
Central Bar Harbor location.
The hotel is within walking distance of Bar Harbor center, but if you don't feel like the walk, there's a free shuttle service. There's also every adventurous activity you can think of on the doorstep, from mountain-biking to kayaking, as well as top-quality golfing.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The Wi-Fi can be unreliable.
It's a minor point, but some guests have had connectivity issues with the Wi-Fi, with the signal sometimes dropping, or web pages loading slowly. However, since the Wi-Fi is hotel-wide, you can usually find a spot to get it working - it might just take a while at busy periods.
negative:
Some areas need updating.
While rooms are generally clean and comfortable, the hotel could do with a bit of a revamp. Guests have complained particularly about the carpets in the communal areas, which are a bit worn, and in need of replacing. If you don't go expecting 5-star luxury, it's no big deal.
negative:
The street outside is quite steep and bumpy.
Some guests with mobility problems have mentioned that the entrance to the hotel is rather steep and can be a little difficult to navigate, though ramps and rails are in place to provide assitance. Guests have also noted that you need to drive slowly in, due to the bumps in the road.
