City Hall Port Elizabeth (Port Elizabeth, South Africa)

The City Hall of Port Elizabeth was built in between 1858 and 1862 and is home to the City Council’s Chamber. The clock tower of the colonial style building is a later addition and dates from 1883. The building was destroyed during a fire in 1977 and has been totally reconstructed since. Within the city hall you can also find a hall that is used for concerts and other events . The Dias Cross, which was a present from the Portuguese government and is a replica of cross dedicated to the Saint George can be seen here. The City Hall overlooks the large market square of Port Elizabeth where a street market is being held regularly .
