Positive Reviews
positive:
Excellent value for money
Guests who brought up the question of value for money were pretty much unanimous that the hotel provided excellent value during their stay. Most mentioned the low room rates as the main evidence and the fact that the accommodation was perfectly adequate in support of their conclusion.
positive:
Helpful front desk staff
Going by the reviews, it seems that most guests here were tourists, rather than business travellers. Quite a number of these needed a little guidance as to what to do in Hobart and found that the front desk staff were very helpful in offering suggestions and recommendations.
positive:
Useful kitchen and kitchenettes
Many guests were quite happy with the simple kitchenettes in their room and the communal full kitchen as well. It seems that they were well used, with guests liking that they could prepare their own snacks and simple meals.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Really need a car
A number of guests were not entirely happy with the location of the hotel. They reported that it is quite far from any sort of amenities, like cafes, shops and so on, much less central Hobart. Quite a number said that one really needed a car when staying there, since public transport would be very inconvenient to use and taxis very expensive.
negative:
Overflow parking
Quite a number of guests reported that the hotel had limited true onsite parking, and that when this was full, which was often, they had to park in a lot on the adjacent hillside. Many found this to be a bit inconvenient.
negative:
Too basic for some
While most acknowledged that this was a budget hotel, and it could hardly be expected to look like the Ritz, a fair number felt it was just too basic, with limited in-room amenities and very little by way of decoration.
