Staff here are always pleasant, cheerful and around to help in the event of any query. Catering is terrific but, if you fancy a change, try nearby restaurants, including The Esquire Tavern and Bella On the River.

Super comfy beds fit in well in these rooms which are attractively decorated and furnished. TVs are state of the art and the sophisticated lighting control allows you to dictate the mood.

A great deal of time and effort has gone into designing the pool area where the poolside bar and the pool itself are inspiring. The cabana area has a separate music volume control to cater for individual preferences.

They' use the fitness room at all times of the day and night and if your room is in the vicinity, you'll hear the dropping of weights on the floor. Try sleeping through that!

They are really on to a greedy winner with the excessive car parking charges - whether it's via valet or DIY. It wouldn't seem so bad if everything else was 'just so', but there are - or were - serious problems with the hot water supply. The only time you are in hot water is financially, when you park the car!

When staying in highly rated hotels, you reasonably expect the level of customer service to be similarly exceptional ... + it is memorable here! The manner in which guests are addressed by some staff is not only a disgrace in a hotel of this standing, but not expected in the most rundown motel establishment. Staff-and presumably, management-need to go on an intensive customer service course + PDQ!
