Positive Reviews
positive:
Charming feel
This hotel and guest house was built in the 1800s and still retains the architecture of an historic Victorian home. Those old touches, though, don't detract from a comfortable stay with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy the old town atmosphere while still watching cable TV and surfing the free WiFi.
positive:
A reasonable price
For Key West, this hotel has a very reasonable price, especially when considering everything that comes with the room. Guests can also enjoy a secluded heated pool with sunbathing area, a free breakfast in a Tiki hut, and bike rentals, for a much cheaper fee than from a tourist rental, in which to explore the island.
positive:
Leave the party behind
This hotel is away from the busiest part of Key West in a quiet residential area. When you get too tired to party, you can leave the noise behind and enjoy a good night's sleep in a quiet neighborhood. However, the tourist areas aren't too far away to easily enjoy with a quick car trip.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not very close to Duval Street
Duval Street, the main hub of Key West, is not an easy walk. Guests will probably have to rent bicycles or drive to the more popular tourist attractions. Since parking is extremely limited at the hotel, guests might find a parking space several blocks away in the busy streets rather than just out front of their rooms.
negative:
Sightsee as much as you can
The rooms, baths, and showers are very small in the hotel. These just aren't rooms you can lounge and relax in. Most rooms have no separate sitting areas, not even a chair. Guests will have to lounge in their beds. Mostly, the rooms are just for overnight sleeping.
negative:
Beds, baths, and breakfasts
The beds are hard, uncomfortable, and have sagging mattresses. The showers also come with problems, such as uneven water pressure and a hot water system that fails early in the morning. Guests who aren't up with the earliest birds might find themselves taking cold showers. The breakfast, too, leaves a lot to be desired. It is mostly pastries and fruits and is bland and uninspiring.
