Positive Reviews
positive:
Not just a room number.
For most, the best thing about a stay at Old Government House is the service that you receive. Guests are treated as individuals; you will not feel like just a room number here. Staff are friendly, professional and efficient and most cannot wait to return.
positive:
Plenty to keep you busy.
The hotel is a five-minute walk from an abundance of shops, restaurants and the quayside, a short ferry trip or helicopter ride to the islands of Herm and Alderney and close to miles of stunning coastline. Back at the hotel, guests rave about the spa facilities and the heated outdoor pool.
positive:
Luxury and elegance at every turn.
Rooms are luxuriously decorated in sumptuous fabrics and have large, comfortable beds, high-quality complimentary toiletries and plush bed linen. Common spaces are equally as well decorated, and most feel the hotel deserves every bit of its five-star status.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Not to all tastes.
While the hotel is, undoubtedly, beautiful, it won't be to all tastes. If you're looking for a contemporary, modern hotel, this isn't it. Think extravagant, oversized furniture, padded fabric on walls and tassels and you're most of the way there. You may love it, or you may not, but the majority of people can appreciate the elegance.
negative:
Enter the maze.
Being an older building, it will come as no surprise that the layout is somewhat unconventional. Some have suggested that a map of the hotel could help guests navigate the corridors, although, staff are more than happy to give you the 'grand tour', on request, and porters are on-hand to assist with luggage.
negative:
Wi-Fi could be improved.
One complaint is that the Wi-Fi could be improved upon. It apparently works just fine but for some, the speed could be a little better.
