Positive Reviews
positive:
Decent accommodations for the price
Carlton House is a decent place to stay if you're on a budget, and not looking for much more than a bed and onsite dining. The beds and linens are comfy, space is ample enough to not feel cramped, and the views are a nice reminder of what's out there to explore.
positive:
Friendly staff make you feel welcomed
Staff are approachable, and do what they can to help you have the getaway you wanted. They're a great source for insider knowledge and tips, and keep a good balance of letting you have your privacy while also checking in about requests or needs.
positive:
Nicely located for getting aound
It's fairly easy to get around and explore the village and sites of interest by car, public transit, or on foot. Shopping, museums, and Nature trails are close by, as well as neat little pockets of culture or history that you can find by simply being spontaneous.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Housekeeping could be better
As lovely as the rooms and the rest of the inn are, they could be cleaner and more consistently maintained. Dust and cobwebs are noticeable, floors and carpeting could benefit from better upkeep, and surfaces need to be polished more.
negative:
Mixed opinions about the breakfast
Some guests find the breakfast to be sufficient and good, while others are not pleased with the quality, options, and availability. It seems to be a hit or a miss, so if unsure, skip it and go elsewhere.
negative:
Plumbing is very noisy and disruptive
Plumbing is not very subtle, so you'll be in for noise when using your loo, or from when it's used next door. Keep this in mind for when you sleep, and perhaps bring a pair of ear plugs for everyone travelling with you.
