The St. James Hotel is nestled in the heart of Grimsby, within walking distance of a popular shopping centre, attractions like museums and theatres, and great pubs like The Barge which offers a quirky menu for diners. Guests of the hotel regularly raved about the hotel’s ideal city centre location.

Guests were pleased with the scenic views from some of the hotel’s rooms, which overlooked the nearby cathedral and small park. Rooms located at the rear of the hotel were touted by guests to be the most quiet, as opposed to rooms facing St. James Square.

The reception staff at the St. James received numerous accolades for being so friendly, accommodating, and always helpful. Guests were also very pleased how quickly the check-in process went at reception, again praising the staff for being efficient, friendly, and polite.

Hotel needs an update, décor, furniture antiquated.
Although guests were less than pleased with the threadbare carpets, old, lumpy mattresses, outdated furniture, and chipped walls, management of the hotel assured that upgrades were currently in the works for the restaurant/bar, as well as the 125 suites.

The hotel’s rooms that face St. James Square, with views of the cathedral and small gardens, drew criticism from guests due to the noise factor, especially late night/early morning when the nearby pub closed for the night.

The on-site restaurant also garnered displeased remarks from guests, who complained that the service at both the bar and restaurant was very slow, took some time to receive their meals or drinks. Guests also commented that the food was disappointing.
