With a position right in the heart of Port Clinton, the Island House's location was seen as virtually perfect by past guests. Thanks to its central location, the entire city - including all of its restaurants, stores and attractions - can be realistically explored on foot from the hotel.

The cleanliness of the hotel's rooms was much-admired by essentially all former visitors. Along with being spotlessly clean, the rooms were often said to contain comfortable beds, old-world charm and beneficial amenities.

Many previous guests only had positive things to say about the service they received when staying at the Island House. As well as welcoming and kind attitude, the staff members were regularly seen as really helpful and cooperative.

The supposedly cramped nature of the rooms has been a common negative aspect brought up by former visitors to the Island House. In addition, the soundproofing of the hotel's rooms was seen as inadequate at times in sufficiently blocking out all external noises.

Although the majority found it to be acceptable for their needs, a notable amount of previous guests were disappointed about the hotel's complimentary breakfast. In particular, the choice of items served at breakfast was described as lacking on occasion.

Numerous past visitors were left unsatisfied about their experience with the free Wi-Fi supplied by the Island House. Based on feedback, the range of the Wi-Fi is not the best, and connection quality can be dependent on where someone is located within the building.
