The rooms here were found to be simple, clean and cosy, and a few guests thought them to be decently priced and decently sized for Amsterdam.
Guests loved the location given that the hotel is found an easy walk from Amsterdam’s canals — with tram links to central attractions — and close to museums, good restaurants, Vondelpark and the airport bus stop. Despite this the area proved to nice and quiet, away from the tourist madness.
As per usual for Amsterdam, Sander has some steep old stairs, so keep this in mind if you are lugging a lot of luggage, or are not so mobile.
The Dutch-style continental breakfast was not everyone’s favourite, most likely due to the lack of cooked options, but a few of those who stayed did enjoy it for the size of their meal.
Some guests found the hotel dated, and reported wallpaper and plaster coming away, and some fittings needing some work, especially in the basement rooms.
