Positive Reviews
positive:
Professional, friendly staff.
From the uniformed, attentive restaurant staff, to the helpful, knowledgeable front desk staff, guests praise the service offered at the Royal. It's the kind of place where guests' needs are pre-empted, and you can get lots of local area advice.
positive:
Convenient location close to the station.
If you're arriving into Bath by train, you can't do much better than this hotel for ease - it's located mere steps from the station entrance. It's also just a short walk into central Bath for sightseeing and shopping.
positive:
Excellent breakfasts made to order.
A good cooked breakfast is something that traditional British hotels take very seriously indeed - and the Royal is definitely a front-runner. With a range of fresh ingredients cooked to order each morning, foodies will be in heaven.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Old-fashioned, tired decor.
While the traditional decor offers a certain character and charm, many guests find that it's more outdated than period-style. Some rooms could do with a bit of an update to give them a fresher look.
negative:
Noise from inside and out.
Between the creaky floors, slamming doors, and incessant traffic noise from outside, you may find peace and quiet rather elusive. Until the Royal invests in soundproofing, you may want to bring earplugs.
negative:
Lack of air-conditioning.
Not helping the noise issue is the lack of air-conditioning. In the summer months, this means that you might face a choice between stifling heat, or sleeping with the window open and succumbing to the street noise.
