Positive Reviews
positive:
It's a great romantic retreat.
Though Knock Castle caters to all types of travellers, it's clear from reviews that most guests had romance on their minds. Couples loved the candle light dinners, sipping wine in the gazebo lit with fairy lights, getting couples massages in the spa, and the plush beds. The building itself also added to the ambiance.
positive:
The food is delicious.
Previous guests were all very happy with the food served at the hotel's restaurants. They found everything to be expertly prepared and utilising the freshest ingredients. They were also quite happy with the service of the waitstaff and the wide menu selection.
positive:
The customer service is top notch.
Reviews of Knock Castle frequently mention employees by name, and have lots of wonderful things to say about everyone that works there. Many guests had the staff go above and beyond to make their stay perfect, mostly little things like rose petals on the bed for an anniversary or a free bottle of champagne to celebrate a recent engagement.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Some people feel it's nothing special.
It should be noted here that the reviews of this hotel are overwhelmingly positive. Of those that had negative feedback, most of them did not have highly specific complaints. They simply felt that the hotel wasn't as nice as the price they paid to stay there, or that other nearby hotels in a comparable price range are nicer.
negative:
The decor is a bit strange.
Some guests found the decorations to be a bit tacky. They described dusty, plastic flowers, a taxidermy fox with three legs, and mismatched lamp shades. A few reviews mentioned the obnoxiously large sign out front advising guests not to bring in their own food and drink.
negative:
There's no night porter.
A few guests were disturbed that there is no hotel staff after 11pm. The hotel is also locked after 11pm, with guests only able to access the building via a key code. There is, however, a phone that will dial the general manager after hours.
