Positive Reviews
positive:
Located near public transport
While some guests note that this hotel is not exactly in the most picturesque of areas, they do also comment that its location is convenient for various public transport options, in particular, the Aldgate East tube station. This station provides direct access into central London.
positive:
Reasonable price
Perhaps one of the most appealing features of the Travelodge London Aldgate East is the price you'll pay for the rooms. As London hotels go, you won't be laying out too much. You will, of course, need to pay extra for the likes of parking and breakfast but few guests found these extra costs excessive.
positive:
Friendly and helpful staff
Although this hotel doesn't entirely escape criticism, very few guests have anything negative to say about the standard of service on offer. Indeed, more than one guest suggests that the staff is a credit to the hotel. It seems that you can reasonably anticipate friendly and helpful service here.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Regular reports of noise
A frequent complaint from previous guests is the noise coming from the adjacent railway line. Apparently, you can hear trains until after midnight and before 6 am. Those who stayed on the opposite side of the hotel complain of traffic noise instead. As there are also comments about internal noise, it seems that the soundproofing here is bad.
negative:
Some issues with rooms
Feedback about the room quality is a little mixed. Some guests seemed happy enough or seemed resigned to the fact that you get what you pay for. Others describe problems such as poor cleanliness in the bathrooms and missing amenities.
negative:
No air-conditioning
Several guests mention that the rooms in this hotel lack air-conditioning. During the summer, in particular, this can lead rooms to become very stuffy. Plus, opening the windows leaves you more exposed to the surrounding noise.
