Positive Reviews
positive:
Beautiful hotel in an equally beautiful location.
It's like stepping out of time a bit, staying at the Old Vicarage. The facade as well as where it is situated, are stunning, and the kind of charm that begets a tranquil holiday in the country. You're surrounded by simple luxury, and beautiful scenery that well represents 5-star accommodations at reasonably priced rates.
positive:
Wonderful menu selections for every meal.
The menu selections and their final presentations clearly show why the restaurant and chef are so highly praised. Dishes are made to order, use the freshest and best ingredients from local sources, and the portions leave you full and satisfied. It's a pleasure having this amenity right there, and it's particularly stand-out as having hearty vegetarian options.
positive:
Comfy beds, pleasant atmosphere, and lovely staff.
Beds are at such a snugly and cosy level that you're reluctant to get out of them. Once you do leave the room though, it's nothing but comfortable and quiet surroundings that encourage temporarily forgetting about everyday life during your holiday. The staff also demonstrate that spirit, with a focus on getting you whatever you need to relax, and making sure you have a great time.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Wi-Fi signal is very unreliable and hardly works.
Not much of a surprise, given that the building is substantially old, but the Wi-Fi signal is very poor. Many times, it's just non-existent. Don't count on steady online communications while staying here, and plan to tap into a signal elsewhere.
negative:
Miscellaneous minor grievances that may occur.
Little things occasionally occur, that may offset a multi-star experience. This includes minor gripes such as spotty housekeeping, inconsistent water temperatures, outdated fixtures, and weak telly signals.
