Wonderful cut-off location
Guests at the lodge adore its isolated location to get away from it all. The stunning views over Sandwich Bay and the championship golf course are just the start. You can also experience long walks along the secluded beaches and inland, enjoying the natural, unspoilt surroundings.
positive:
The spacious rooms are a hit
The outstanding feature of the rooms are their size. Spacious and airy, they are easy to circulate and store luggage or cumbersome golf equipment. Guests also comment on their good standard of cleanliness.
positive:
Staff are polite and attentive
Most guests agree that the staff are well trained, attentive and polite. They go that extra mile to make sure that the guests feel welcome.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Too remote for some
Whilst the secluded location of the Lodge is its trump card, it also has its drawbacks. It can be difficult to find for some guests, especially along its bumpy private road. In the winter or when the weather is bad, guests can feel a bit cut off and have to drive somewhere else for a meal or a drink.
negative:
Not always tranquil
Some guests are disappointed to have their idyllic secluded break ruined by a rowdy group of golfers. This, as well as lawnmowers waking people up at the crack of dawn, is accepted to be par of the course in this type of establishment. However, others have also complained of other disturbances. Chief culprits are extractor fans in the kitchen and heating systems.
negative:
Rooms lack character
The bedrooms are rightly lauded for their size, beds and views. However, this isn't enough for some guests, who write off the rooms as being bland, dated and lacking soul.
