Hotel The Clifton (Charlottesville, USA)

The inn is surrounded by 100 acres of private grounds complete with a private lake thus providing a very scenic and peaceful backdrop. Guests appreciated being away from the hustle and bustle and were highly complementary of the picture-postcard views which they were able to enjoy from their rooms every day.

Guests welcomed the opportunity of being able to have a refreshing swim in the outdoor Infinity pool as well as a relaxing soak in the spa tub. In the afternoons many said that it was very pleasant being able to sit on the porch with a drink whilst admiring the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains.

From the continental breakfasts through to the afternoon tea and evening meals, all the food served at the inn was described as being fresh and well prepared. Guests said that the dishes served at the restaurant were prepared using quality local ingredients whilst the menus were said to be extensive catering to various tastes and preferences.

Guests whose rooms were close to the kitchen area said they were often disturbed made by the staff early in the morning. The soundproofing was also said to be inadequate as quite a few objected to being able to hear conversations and televisions from the adjoining rooms.

A range of minor issues were reported by the guests such as noticing cobwebs in the rooms as well as mouldy grouting which did not leave a good impression with many. Quite a few also objected to the rather tatty and thin towels.

Quite a few guests mentioned that upon checking in they were not offered any help with their cases which meant that they had to carry their own luggage.
