Positive Reviews
positive:
Warm and friendly host
Adam, the owner and host at the Bench Mark B&B, consistently makes guests feel welcome and at home. Guests mention that they found the service throughout their stay was wonderfully attentive. Plus, Adam's excellent local knowledge helps guests make the most of their stay.
positive:
Quirky and chilled
Guests are impressed by the surroundings at this B&B, often commenting that they found the rooms and communal areas quirky and a great place to chill - the latter being made that much easier by the absence of a TV. Guests also note the books, music and instruments available to borrow.
positive:
Excellent breakfast
By all accounts, Adam is a fabulous cook! Guests rate the standard of the breakfast highly, with special kudos going to the super thick toast and homemade marmalade. You can enjoy your breakfast in the kitchen or outside on the patio.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Unsuitable for less mobile guests
The Bench Mark is arranged over several different levels, often with narrow stairs between each one. This feature makes the B&B largely unsuitable for guests with mobility issues.
negative:
Shared bathroom
Not every guest was thrilled to share a bathroom. However, with just two rooms in the B&B, it's unlikely you'll find yourself in a lengthy queue to get a shower. On the plus side, guests consistently describe the bathroom as spotlessly clean.
negative:
Clutter or character?
This B&B couldn't be more different to a standard hotel. The property is full of the host's personal (and fairly eclectic) items. The vast majority viewed this as a positive and felt the collection added character. Just a few thought there was too much clutter.
