On the whole, guests choose to stay at Shalimar because it offers a location convenient to their needs at a very low price. It is particularly popular with those planning to see a rugby match at Twickenham or those flying from Heathrow Airport. Also, the nearby Hounslow West tube station allows easy access to central London.

Guests were pleased to be able to use the hotel's free on-site car park. However, spaces are limited and when full guests were able to park on the street overnight.

According to feedback, Shalimar Hotel would benefit from redecoration. Guests describe the outside of the building as being run down and the reception area as looking shabby. However, some of the rooms have been renovated and look quite smart.

Guests were sometimes disappointed to discover some of the amenities in their rooms not functioning as they should. In particular, the showers can be difficult to use with the water temperature either being very cold or very hot.

A few guests mention being disturbed by noise while staying here. Due to the hotel's close proximity to Heathrow, noise from planes flying overhead can sometimes be heard and there are also reports of traffic noise from the road. Guests were also disturbed by music when functions were being held at the hotel and this sometimes lasted until the early hours.
