This isn't a luxurious hotel; rather a clean and basic hostel. Be prepared for no telephone or extraneous furniture - like table and chairs - but the basics and prices are fine ... and the Wi-Fi is very good! Rooms on the higher floors have spectacular views over the city. There are some reservations regarding the safety aspect in the district generally, but hostel security is very good.
You aren't here for a quiet and restful break, but to immerse yourself in the lifestyle and culture of this fascinating city. This base couldn't be better; surrounded by restaurants and shops and close to transport links for excursions further afield.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Take advantage of this, engage them in conversation and feed off their unique knowledge of the area.
The hostel is in the Japanese/Korean district. Rooms are very small and in this climate you don't half miss the inclusion of a refrigerator!! They aren't over generous with the provision of towels either and whilst it's noisy too; that's part of the appeal of the place.
There is quite a lot of vagrancy, with a fair share of dubious night time characters. During the day, the sight of children begging will always be disconcerting.
They don't serve breakfast - or anything else here - but will point you in the direction of the nearby Chinese Restaurant, with which they obviously have links. Breakfast there isn't good though and it's worth trawling around the immediate vicinity for something much better.
