Good Yorkshire folk providing straightforward help with down-to-earth humour and good grace: that's probably the best way to describe the industrious and really very courteous staff who keep the Restover Lodge ticking over.

As well as being within easy strolling distance (15 minutes) of the town centre, this hotel is fortunate enough to be located in one of the quietest parts of Doncaster – right next to Hyde Park Cemetery. If there's a more peaceful place to sleep this close to central Doncaster then we've yet to hear about it...

Even by roadside budget motel standards, it has to be said that the rates offered here really are extremely competitive indeed.

Having shared bathrooms along each corridor and guests (often contractors) staying on a long-term basis can make this establishment feel more like a backpacker lodging than a budget hotel at times.

Why are they annoying? Because they have those buttons on them which need to be depressed every ten seconds to keep the water flowing. Fine for swimming pools but definitely not acceptable for hotels.

Meeting in the busy, toilet-bound corridor traffic isn't the only way to get to know your fellow guests. Indeed, you'll feel like you know your neighbours inside-out if you stay here for more than few nights as you're likely to hear everything they get up to through the somewhat porous walls...
