Hotel Negril Gardens Beach Resort (Negril, Jamaica)

This is a smaller, more affordable venue than nearby alternatives; with one restaurant and one bar only. There's a spa, swimming pool and whirlpool, as well as water sports and even small boats you can borrow.  The Seven Mile Beach area is public, so there may be vendors passing throughout the day.  A firm 'no thank you' will usually suffice.  Plenty of beach chairs for everyone, and the water is usually warm as a bathtub - although sometimes a bit rough. Walking distance to plenty of dining and nightlife venues. The on-site dining is tasty with a rotating buffet menu, and plentiful cocktails. You may catch live evening entertainment.   Basic Wi-Fi is free, while premium costs a fee.  Guests can access features of Sandals and Beaches resorts nearby for a fee as well.

There are either beach or poolside rooms, with a busy street between (crossing guards are available at all times to assist.)  Beach-side rooms have the lively water sports nearby, as well as the whirlpool and restaurant - and can be a bit noisier at night.  The other side, called the "garden side", is closer to the pool, gardens and spa - and is quieter.  Rooms are clean and adequate with functional amenities. Rent a refrigerator, fully-stocked or unstocked, and visit the stores to fill it yourself.

Staff are friendly and will surely learn your name.  From wait staff to reception, you'll enjoy everyone and stay smiling.

Some felt a fee for premium Wi-Fi was a rip-off and it should all be free.

Smoking pot openly is expected, but other drugs make folks uncomfortable.  Be considerate and discreet.

Some areas could use a refurb soon, especially due to maintenance issues and tired décor.
