Positive Reviews
positive:
Beautiful location near plenty of activities
Nalu Kai Lodge is a wonderful base for exploring the town, and a lot of what Maui has to offer visitors. You're able to easily and quickly get to many hotspots, so carrying gear isn't too much of a hassle. Making this even more of a perfect location is that you can always just hang back at the hotel, and enjoy the beach right there.
positive:
Lovely décor and comfortable beds
Rooms are nicely decorated, with natural materials that echo the atmosphere. The mattresses are at the right level to get a comfortable and restful sleep, and the linens, pillows, and towels are also cozy.
positive:
Close to vegetarian and vegan restaurants
You can walk to many restaurants and cafes, including a few next to the lodge. There's something to meet many dietary needs and preferences, especially vegetarians and vegans, so you don't have to fret about finding something suitable to eat.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No noise reduction between rooms
One of the biggest complaints about here is that it will seem like you're in the same room as your neighbor, because of absolutely no insulation between the walls. Everyone hears every considerable sound, so it's best to have ear plugs, and be conscious of your own noise.
negative:
Curtains separate the bathroom from the bedroom
An oddity that makes some guests uncomfortable is that curtains are what is used for the doors to the en-suite bathroom. There's fabric that acts as a separation, rather than actual doors, so keep this in mind if sharing the room with others.
negative:
Staff are distant and not very responsive
The staff seem kind of distant and out of the way, compared to those that are always greeting you. You feel like you're pretty much on your own, which turns some guests off or proves disappointing to expectations.
