Positive Reviews
positive:
Good location opposite Montparnasse Station
Many, but certainly not all, guests were arriving or leaving from the station, and used Miramar as something of a commuter hotel. For this purpose, they found it very convenient, since it was just across the road. Other visitors found that, while the location was not in the heart of tourist Paris, they could still get to the main attractions fairly easily.
positive:
Surprisingly quiet
Despite being right opposite Montparnasse, guests reported that their rooms were remarkably quiet at night. The hotel does claim to have soundproof windows, and it seems that the ones installed really do work.
positive:
Recently renovated rooms
It seems the rooms were renovated in the second half of 2015. Guests certainly did notice, and were very complimentary about the new design and amenities.
Negative Reviews
negative:
No safes available
This was a specific, and surprisingly common, observation. Guests reported that, not only were there no in-room safes, but no such facilities were not available at the reception either. While no reports of theft could be found, it did leave some guests a bit nervous.
negative:
Very small rooms
This was usually made more as a remark, than an actual complaint. Given Paris' reputation, and the fact that it was something of a commuter hotel, guests were fully expecting the rooms at Miramar to be small. They reported that they were indeed exceptionally small.
negative:
Breakfast not a hit
It was hard to find a good word written about the breakfast. Most said it was very basic, with not much variety, and it seemed they were just going through the motions so they could tick “breakfast” off a checklist. It might be best to forego this and take your breakfast at a café instead.
