Located just a short walk from the resort town’s incredible beaches, Hotel Maya Del Carmen Hotel offers thoroughly modern accommodation in a lovely thatched property set in beautiful grounds. The rooms are modern, with charming traditional touches, and feature air conditioning, TV, in-room safe and a minibar and microwave so you can prepare your own drinks and snacks. The central feature at Hotel Maya Del Carmen Hotel is undoubtedly its beautiful and tranquil garden courtyard. You’ll find a pool there to take the edge off the tropical heat, and is the place to go when you need to relax and revive. There’s also a gym and massage treatments are available. Breakfast is served in a gorgeous setting overlooking the pool. Guests may use the onsite BBQ facilities to cook up a storm if the wish. One of the loveliest stretches of beach in the area is just 600 yards’ from the hotel, while the ferry terminal for trips to Cozumel is 1.4 mile away.
Guests really seemed to like the location of the hotel, saying that both the beach, and the town's main commercial drag, with all its bars, cafes and other amenities, where both close at hand. They clearly didn't feel they had to travel far to make the most out of their beach vacation.
The hotel's courtyard was by far guest's favourite part of the hotel. Many mentioned that it was especially attractive and guests seemed to really enjoy the cool and tranquil atmosphere there.
The majority of guests felt that they had received reasonable value for money during their stay, saying that they considered their room rate on the low side for an acceptable property in such a convenient location.
Several guests brought up this point, saying that they were disappointed which the reality of their rooms, compared with the pictures in the hotel's online marketing materials. Most said that the furniture was a lot older than appeared in the pictures, and that they must have been taken some time back.
Far too many guests for comfort complained that their rooms were neither clean on arrival nor kept clean during their stay. Several mentioned that this seemed to only add to the problem of cockroaches and bugs that already existed simply because of the tropical conditions.
Though of course ideal mattress firmness is very much a matter of personal taste, there were perhaps too many complaints in this case about uncomfortable beds, with most saying that they were too hard.
