Hotel Mary Carmen (Cozumel, Mexico)

This was by far the most commented on aspect of the hotel. Guest after guest pointed out that it really is extremely central, with pretty much all saying that they appreciated the convenience this entailed, since they never had to travel far for a great bar, restaurant or even to get to the ferry terminal for trips to the mainland.

Too many guests to mention went out of their way to comment on the hotel's courtyard, saying that it was especially lovely. Most found it to be a welcome and tranquil oasis after exploring the busy streets surrounding the hotel.

Many guests really appreciated that the hotel both looked authentic and was run on traditional Mexican lines. They contrasted this with the big resorts, which some felt offered a fairly bland and antiseptic environment.

Guests in outside facing rooms reported that the streets below could get pretty loud, especially during carnival and other similar events. Light sleepers were advised to bring along earplugs, or perhaps join in with the revellers outside rather than sleep.

It was very rare to find a positive comment regarding the breakfast. Most guests found it very disappointing, not only the food itself, but also the fact that guests were even expected to wash their own dishes afterwards

There were perhaps too many complaints about rooms not being cleaned properly before being released to guests to ignore. Quite a few felt that cleaning had been a bit slapdash.
