The staff gives off a warm, friendly vibe and it sets the tone for the rest of the hostel, guests say. There are friendly travellers from all over the world, who hang out in the common areas for drinks and socializing.

The dorm rooms have a lot of space, including big beds, more floor space and giant lockers assigned to each guest. Compared with other hostels, Lub d Bangkok doesn't feel cramped, guests say.

The hostel isn't located in the most central neighborhood, guests warn. You may have to walk about 10 minutes to get to the nearest BTS station, which is difficult during the hot summers, or shell out for a taxi that may cost more in the congested Bangkok traffic.

Several customers complained that the Wi-Fi was terrible in their rooms and the lobby. The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting after a period of inactivity that required users to log back in each time.

For older guests or people with disabilities, getting up and down the hostel's stairs may pose a challenge. In absence of a lift, you have to carry your own baggage up the stairs, which may not be easy if you're hauling a lot.
