Hotel Le Vincent (Québec-City, Canada)

This hotel is far from a standard chain hotel and the difference makes all the difference for those who like charming instead of cookie cutter. The historic building has been completely renovated, but still keeps important aspects that fit the historic feel without giving up modern conveniences.

The rooms are clean and comfortable  and really quite spacious. They also have their own coffee and tea facilities and free Wi-Fi. Customer service is really quite outstanding and you'll feel welcomed as soon as you enter the door.

The price you'll pay here is lower than surrounding hotels or for hotels closer to the city. For that rate, you'll get a pleasant night's stay. Breakfast the next morning is also very affordable and quite delicious.

There is no lift and most rooms are on the upper floors. Guests staying here will have to navigate steep stairs with their own luggage or request help from the front desk. The walks outside and around the hotel also have hills. The walk into the city can take from 15 to 20 minutes.

Since this isn't a standard hotel stay, there are some missing amenities. There is no business centre and no fitness room. There is also no swimming pool or hot tub.

The downstairs room is not the best of them all. It's on the ground floor and receives a lot of street noise. This detracts from raising the window and the smell can be musty and unpleasant inside with no fresh air. Some rooms have showers that are only separated by glass or curtains, which may be awkward if you don't like such public displays.
