Decent value for money
Whatever small problems guests may have had with the hotel, these were usually dwarfed by the fact that they felt they received a very reasonable room-rate. They mentioned it was hard to find a decent hotel in the broader DC area at a reasonable price and that this one definitely fitted the bill.

Very pet-friendly
Like other hotels in the La Quinta group, the Columbia Jessup location is exceptionally pet-friendly. Guests bringing their pets along seemed to feel very comfortable and said that the hotel was really set up to accommodate those with pets.

Extremely comfortable beds
While most hotels get at least a couple of complaints regarding the mattresses used, this one seems to have received only compliments. It seems the mattress buyers have selected wisely and found one with broad appeal. Guests found it so comfortable they wondered whether they could fit it into their suitcase and take it home with them.

Some issues with cleanliness
While most hotels receive at least one or two complaints regarding cleanliness, there were too many complaints in this case to write them off as an aberration. Several guests spoke about their room really not being properly cleaned before they checked-in. In some cases they needed to ask for additional cleaning, or do some spot cleaning themselves before feeling comfortable.

Unreliable elevators
A few guests brought up the fact that the elevators used at the hotel were not the most reliable. Despite being a low-rise building guests were said to have to wait for long periods of time, perhaps humming tunes in frustration, while the elevator was everywhere except on their floor.

A surprising number of guests mentioned that they smelled smoke in their non-smoking room and the public areas of the hotel.
